04-Nov-2019

Key points from article :

Any amount of running, even just once a week, is better than no running.

Higher doses of running may not necessarily be associated with greater mortality benefits.

Analysed 14 previous studies based on six different groups, totalling more than 230,000 people.

Lowers risk of early death from any cause by 27%.

But there might be a minimum level of running necessary before such benefits are gained.

NHS has recommended 75 minutes of vigorous activity a week (or 150 minutes of moderate activity).

Even slightly less time spent running could produce similar benefits over the risk of early death.
