Human trial proves niacin to be an effective NAD+ booster

Also a cheaper treatment for mitochondrial myopathy than NR and NMN supplements

Key points from article :

Researchers have concluded a human trial using niacin for boosting NAD+.

Trial participants were given a steadily increasing dose of niacin.

From 250 mg/day to 750-1000 mg/day over a 4-month period, then 10-month follow-up treatment period.

Participants were organized into a study group of individuals with mitochondrial myopathy.

Treatment increased muscle NAD+ levels by 2.3-fold in 10 months.

The level of whole blood NAD+ increased to 8.2-fold at the 10-month mark.

Shows that supplements reach bloodstream in significant amounts to elevate NAD+ levels there.

It also improved body composition with improved muscle strength after 10 months.

Hepatic fat was halved and visceral fat was reduced by a quarter.

It increased fasting glucose levels though, in both groups after 4 months.
