Director of Neuroscience Center at University of Helsinki and Professor of Regenerative Medicine at University of Eastern Finland
Jari Koistinaho is the Director of Neuroscience Center, Helsinki Institute of Life Science, University of Helsinki. He is also the Professor of Regenerative Medicine, University of Eastern Finland. Koistinaho's research interests include CNS cytokines, inflammation, neurodegeneration, iPSC derived models.
He received MD at the University of Tampere in 1985 and his Doctorate degree in Medical Sciences in 1989. He was also the founder of three spin-off companies (Cerebricon Ltd, Medeia Therapeutics Ltd, Aranda Pharma Ltd) and has filed several patents including the use of Il-33 in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and the application of minocycline in the treatment and prevention of cerebrovascular diseases of the nervous system.
