Skin regeneration in mice - 2 different methods but same pathway

Retinoic acid could be a key ingredient in elixir of youth

Cosmetic laser treatment and retinoic acid target the same pathway to regenerate hair follicles.

Loose pieces of self-noncoding double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) promoted this regeneration in mice.

Genetically modified mice to remove their toll-like receptor 3 protein.

Then gave retinoic acid to those mice and witnessed regeneration of follicles.

Opens the door for developing therapies to reduce visible skin aging, regenerate lost hair follicles following trauma.
