Senescent marker levels in different tissues among different age groups

We need to recognize normal patterns in order to identify what's abnormal

19-Mar-2020

Key points from article :

Cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitors 2A (p16/CDKN2A) and 1A (p21/CDKN1A) identify senescent cells.

Quantified p16- and p21-positive cells in tissue of normal organs across a broad spectrum of ages.

Different cell types express different levels of the senescence markers p16 and p21.

Number of cells with these marker levels may vary among different tissues and different age groups.

But there are specific patterns of expressing p16 and p21 that have been established in this study.

Need to study other markers such as SA-β-Gal and others for a full picture.
