The majority view is that methylation changes are a response to the damage that accrues due to ageing.

Josh's minority view is that aging is an evolved, programmed process.

i.e. changes in methylation are the primary cause of aging rather than a result of it.

Setting back the methylation clock would reverse the epigenetic changes that are the primary driver of senescence.

Need a methylation clock that would tell us which of the age-related methylation sites are Type 1 and which are Type 2.

Also reviews new Stanford lab clock that is based on measuring levels of proteins in blood plasma.

Proteome lab procedures are more complicated and expensive than measuring methylation.
