Diets causing the most deaths are:

1. Too much salt

2. Too few whole grains

3. Too little fruit

Also low levels of nuts, seeds, vegetables and omega-3.

Vast majority of diet-related deaths were because of cardiovascular disease.

Cancers and type 2 diabetes made up the rest of the diet-related deaths.

Five fruit and veg a day could take up 52% of household income in poorer countries.

The study was published in The Lancet.
