CRISPR technology edited plant cells after being sprayed on their leaves

Can get into animal cells, so I wonder if this could be used with humans in future?

01-Nov-2019

Key points from article :

New technique uses DNA attached to nanoparticles to genetically modify plants.

Used an ordinary plant mister to spray leaves.

Fluorescent protein, got into cells in the plants’ leaves.

Then used carbon dots bound to DNA coding for the CRISPR machinery.

Able to permanently edit the genomes of cells in the leaves they sprayed.

Carbon dots can get into mammalian cells in vitro but are mopped up by the immune system.
