Beta NMN is no longer available as a nutritional supplement in the US market, reports FDA
Likely to be discussions before stock is removed from sale - and should still be available in the UK
15-Nov-2022
Longevity supplement ingredient beta-nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) cannot be sold as a dietary supplement in the USA.
NMN has been authorized for investigation as a new drug.
The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) has responded expressing its dismay at the ruling.
The clinical-stage pharma company researching NMN as a drug is Metro International Biotech (aka MetroBiotech).
Working on small-molecule NAD+ enhancers that leverage the NAD+ cycle to treat rare diseases and combat aging.
“The FDA’s reasoning and its refusal to provide a date certain when the authorization as a drug occurred just further raise concerns that it is protecting pharma’s interests over consumer welfare,” said CRN President and CEO Steve Mister.
NMN can be used to build NAD+ via a chemical reaction.
High NAD keep us younger and fitter for longer; supplements that boost NAD+ have become increasingly popular.
