Postdoctoral researcher in the Griffith lab at UNC
As at 2023, Taghreed AlTurki is pursuing postdoctoral training under the mentoring of Dr. Jack Griffith. In Jack’s lab, research focuses on characterizing the recently discovered telomeric dipeptides (VR) and exploring their role in cancer and aging.
In her undergraduate studies, she came across the first EM image of a t-loop by (Griffith et al.,1999), which sparked her passion for telomere biology.
AlTurki joined Dr. Susan Baily’s lab at Colorado State University, where she became more interested in understanding the role of telomeric RNA, TERRA, in repairing Telomeric Double Strand Breaks (DSBs) in cancer cells.
