Professor of Cell Biology at Harvard Medical School
Pere Puigserver, Ph.D., is a Professor of Cell Biology at Harvard Medical School and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, with a distinguished background that includes a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from UIB in Spain and postdoctoral work at Dana-Farber. His research, conducted through the Puigserver Lab, centers on understanding the molecular mechanisms that regulate core metabolic processes essential for cellular function and disease progression. The lab explores mitochondrial biology, focusing on energetics and biogenesis; intermediary metabolism in liver and adipose tissues; and cancer metabolism, examining how these pathways influence growth, survival, and resistance in cancer cells. Employing multidisciplinary approaches like genetic and chemical screens, quantitative metabolomics, and preclinical disease models, Puigserver’s work has significant implications for metabolic, mitochondrial, and cancer-related diseases.
