Muzlifah Haniffa

Professor of Dermatology and Immunology at Newcastle University

Professor Muzlifah Haniffa is a Wellcome Trust Senior Research Fellow in Clinical Science and a Professor of Dermatology and Immunology at Newcastle University. She is recognized for pioneering the use of single-cell genomics to explore tissue homeostasis, immunity, and disease mechanisms. Her research aims to decode the development and maturation of the human immune system.

Elected to the Academy of Medical Sciences in 2020, Professor Haniffa has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Foulkes Foundation Medal (2019), ACTERIA Prize (2018), and the Lister Institute Research Prize (2016). She leads the public engagement program "Inside Skin," blending science and art to explore skin and immune system themes. Passionate about mentorship, she also serves as Associate Faculty at the Wellcome Sanger Institute.
