Linda Magee
Health Innovation and NHS Specialist at Department for International Trade
Linda has served as Chief Operating Officer at Manchester Academic Health Science Centre (MAHSC) from its initiation in 2009 and became Business Development Director in 2013 when MAHSC expanded but is currently covering the Chief Operating Officer again as well. MAHSC was one of only five in the UK designated by the UK Government’s Department of Health in March 2009 and, following another national competition, has recently been accredited for a further five years. MAHSC is a federated partnership, enabled by a company limited by guarantee, between University of Manchester, three major tertiary care NHS Foundation Trusts, two specialist NHS Trusts and a Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) which also represents the other CCGs in Greater Manchester.
Within these complementary roles, Linda provides leadership in business development, economic development and industry relations across the partnerships. In this capacity she is a member of the operations executive of the NIHR Greater Manchester Comprehensive Local Research Network, the Manchester Innovation Group (Local Enterprise Partnership), and the Manchester M-health Steering Committee. She is also Chair of the ‘Health is Our Business’ Group which supports economic development in the city region via the biomedical sector.
