Laura Phipps
Head of Communications and Engagement at Alzheimer's Research UK.
I oversee the Communications and Engagement Department at Alzheimer's Research UK, which is responsible for communications, PR, public engagement and information services. We communicate new research and policy developments both internally and externally, as well as promoting and reacting to breaking research stories in the media. We tell stories of our supporters, promote incredible feats of fundraising and work to tackle stigma and misperceptions of dementia across a range of media. I set up the Dementia Research Infoline, a telephone and email service to answer the public's questions on research and enable people to volunteer for clinical research. My Department is also responsible for public engagement, organising and speaking at public events and ensuring that children are informed and enthused about research through Science Festivals and resources for schools.
