Professor Jon Bennett is a consultant respiratory physician and chair of the British Thoracic Society’s Board
Dr Bennett origins are evident in the fact that he has not been able to avoid the curse of supporting his home town team Wolverhampton Wanderers. He temporarily escaped the midlands, migrating north to Leeds where he qualified and worked for some time as a junior doctor.
Deciding to do respiratory medicine he returned to the midlands and undertook a period of research in Nottingham with Professor Tattersfield and her team resulting in a MD award in 1997. Following this he continued his clinical training career, working in Nottingham, Derby and Auckland (New Zealand).
In 2000 he was appointed to a respiratory medicine post in Derby, moving to the nationally renowned Glenfield Hospital in 2004 where he is now Head of Service.
