Jette Lengefeld

Assistant Professor at University of Helsinki and Karolinska Institute

Jette is a group leader at the Institute of Biotechnology at the University of Helsinki (Finland) since 2021 and an Assistant Professor to the Karolinska Institutet (Sweden) starting in 2023. 

Jette did her graduate studies at the ETH Zurich (Switzerland) focusing on asymmetric cell division in the lab of Yves Barral. This work started her interest in stem cells. Supported by the SNF, the Jane Coffin Childs Memorial Fund and HHMI, Jette performed her postdoctoral studies at the MIT in the lab of Angelika Amon, where she discovered cell size as aging factor of blood stem cells. Her research team is investigating how blood stem cell fail to maintain their functions during aging and disease.
