Clinical Ageing Research Unit (CARU)

The primary focus of the CARU is research into conditions associated with ageing

The Clinical Ageing Research Unit (CARU) is a £5.5 million clinical research facility funded by the Wellcome Trust and Wolfson Foundation.

We opened in September 2008 and are located on the University's Campus for Ageing and Vitality. Our primary aim is to facilitate the development of early assessment and intervention strategies targeted at age-associated degenerative conditions.

We provide a high quality, patient-friendly environment for phase II-IV clinical studies in the older patient. We employ experienced research nurses with specific training in commonly used, relevant assessment instruments.
