Carmen Lázaro
Film Composer, Pianist, filmmaker
As a toddler, she was already a compulsive music student. Carmen started her music career at the age of 7 at Spain’s National Conservatory, piano and singing, performing her early piano concerts at the age of 10. When she was 18 she started Political Science at Complutense University in Madrid, followed by Sciences Po, the higher political institution in Paris. This city was her revelation, she had the opportunity to study piano improvisation, singing and acting, assuming that political science or the diplomatic corps was not going to be her profession. Back to Madrid, she was admitted at the Drama School, International Studio Juan Carlos Corazza, starting auditions and being cast for several parts in series on TV, like -Calle Nueva- where she performed “Gracia” for a season, movies, shorts, theater and commercials.
For the last 8 years she is been focusing her energy into composing music after an International Music Award from the Spanish Ministry of Arts, recording a project (Red Horizons) in Wien and Berlin, and performing gigs in several International Music Festival. She has also composed music for two films (La novia de Lazaro by Fernando Merinero and Ingrid by Eduard Cortés), theater play (Inauguration by Vaclav Havel), TV programs like 13th Street and Disney Channel, several commercials and Music Festival´s promotional videos (Cafe del Mar, Benicassim, Bem).
