Borislava Mihaylova

Associate Professor and Senior Health Economist at Oxford Population Health

Professor Borislava (Boby) Mihaylova is an Associate Professor and Senior Health Economist at the Health Economics Research Centre, University of Oxford. Her research primarily explores the economic aspects of chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, and diabetes. She focuses on understanding the impact of these diseases and related interventions on health outcomes, healthcare costs, and quality of life, alongside developing models to assess the long-term cost-effectiveness of healthcare interventions.

Professor Mihaylova leads the economic analyses in several major clinical trials, including SHARP, THRIVE, REVEAL, and ACST-2, as well as meta-analyses of statin trials through the Cholesterol Treatment Collaboration. Her work on statin effectiveness and cost-effectiveness in cardiovascular prevention has significantly shaped treatment guidelines for patients at varying risk of vascular diseases.
