Florence McAlister Distinguished Professor of Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine
Anna Mae Diehl is the Florence McAlister Distinguished Professor of Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine. She is an affiliate of the Duke Regeneration Center and member of the Duke Cancer Institute. Her research mainly focuses on regeneration and repair
Diehl has been studying metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) for 30 years ago. Discoveries about innate immune dysregulation, microbiome abnormalities, and cell death mediators in MASLD provided a conceptual foundation for treatments that are now in large multi-center clinical trials.
Diel graduated with M.D from Georgetown University. She then completed residency followed by fellowship in gastroenterology at John Hopkins University.
