Assistant Professor of Gerontology at USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology
Andrei Irimia is an Assistant Professor of Gerontology at USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology. He is a biogerontologist, biomedical engineer and biophysicist studying neural injury, degeneration, plasticity and repair. Upon completion of a bachelor’s degree in computer science & mathematics, he was awarded an MS degree in computer science (medical image processing), an MS and a PhD in biophysics (pathophysiology), all from Vanderbilt University.
His research uses multimodal imaging, network theory and machine intelligence to understand how brain connectivity alterations caused by aging, injury and dementia contribute to cognitive deficits & recovery through rehabilitation.
