Oura has unveiled the latest iteration of its smart ring, the Oura Ring 4, priced at $349. This new model features a sleeker design made entirely from titanium, replacing the epoxy interior of its predecessor. Although it may resemble the previous generation at first glance, the Oura Ring 4 introduces recessed sensors for a more comfortable fit and a fully rounded shape, eliminating flat edges.
Significant improvements are also evident in the ring's software. Oura has upgraded its algorithm to enhance signal quality and accuracy. By increasing the number of signal pathways from eight to 18, the ring can better align with users' varying finger sizes, resulting in a 120% boost in signal quality and a 30% increase in accuracy for blood oxygen tracking. The new algorithm also aims to reduce gaps in heart rate readings, improving battery life to up to eight days, depending on ring size.
In addition to hardware enhancements, the Oura app is receiving a comprehensive redesign to accommodate its expanding features, which now include stress tracking, reproductive health insights, and heart health metrics. The app will be organized into three sections: Today, Vitals, and My Health, streamlining the user experience. Moreover, the Oura Ring 4 expands its size range from sizes 6-13 to sizes 4-15, catering to a growing female demographic. The ring is set to ship on October 15, with the Oura subscription price remaining unchanged.
