Japanese researchers developed artificial blood


Artificial blood can be transfused into patients regardless of their blood type.
Team’s artificial blood consists of platelets and red blood cells.
Artificial blood can be stored at normal temperatures for more than a year.
When the artificial blood was tested on 10 rabbits suffering from serious blood loss, six of them survived.
Artificial blood created by a team of scientists from the National Defense Medical College.
The study were published in the U.S. journal Transfusion.
