Fitbit Ionic smartwatches should be removed and returned immediately

More than 100 people have reported being burnt by the watch after its battery overheated.

US Consumer Product Safety Commission tells users to “immediately stop using the recalled Ionic smartwatches.”

Affected users will get a $299 refund and a 40 per cent discount for a new purchase.

Affected watches include the “FB503” in the model number and were sold between Sept 2017 and Dec 2021.

115 reports of the battery overheating in the US, and another 59 reports in the rest of the world.
