Cells of living mice rejuvenated using OSKM trigger in drinking water

More support for the SENS approach of regular maintenance to stop ageing

17-Jan-2019

Key points from article :

Mice were engineered to express OSKM when receiving the antibiotic doxycycline.

OSKM are 4 genes shown to revert cells to pluripotent stem cells in the lab.

Mice fed doxycycline in drinking water - 2 days on, 5 days off.

A number of aging signs halted or even reversed after just 6 weeks.

The treated mice also experienced a 50% increase in their mean survival time.

If treatment was halted, the aging signs returned.
