Altos Labs has announced the creation of the Altos Institute of Computation (IoC), a new institute focused on using computational models to understand and enhance biological resilience at the cellular, organ, and organism levels. This effort supports Altos' larger mission to reverse disease and transform medicine through innovative computational approaches.
The IoC will work closely with Altos' existing Institutes of Science and Medicine, fostering collaboration to explore key biological questions and develop new data and computation platforms. These efforts aim to uncover ways to reprogram cells and rejuvenate tissues, organs, and entire organisms, leveraging machine learning and computational advancements.
Led by Dr. Hana El-Samad, an expert in computational biology and bioengineering, the IoC also includes AI/ML expert Dr. Thore Graepel as a Distinguished Fellow. Key team members include Morgan Levine, an ageing and rejuvenation expert, and Simone Bianco, a leader in functional genomics, who will serve as Vice Presidents, alongside Bikash Sabata, responsible for software and platform development. Together, they aim to unlock new possibilities in medical research and cell programming.
