Key points from article :

Mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapy shown effective against COVID-19 deadly immune reaction.

COVID-19 battle inside the body may trigger a devastating immune overreaction.

Cytokine storm or overproduction of immune cells and cytokines happen.

This causes inflammation throughout the body and fluid buildup in the lungs.

MSCs play vital role in balancing immune reactions, moderating response to pathogens.

Angiotensin converting enzyme 2 receptor is absent in MSCs, making them immune to SARS-CoV-2.

These were intravenously transplanted to the study group patients, aged 45-65.

All patients with common and severe infections had recovered.

While the critically ill patient was out of the ICU with a common infection.

Pulmonary function and symptoms significantly improved in just 2 days after transplantation.

No adverse effects were observed, reinforcing MSCs’ reputation for safety.

MSCs spectacularly succeeded in calming the patients’ cytokine storms.
