Professor Ziad Mallat is a leading expert in cardiovascular medicine, specializing in cardiometabolic and vascular medicine, as well as functional genomics. He is the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Cambridge and is affiliated with key research centres, including the BHF Cambridge Centre of Excellence and the NIHR Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre.
Dr. Mallat earned his MD and PhD in cardiovascular physiology from the University of Paris and previously held senior research roles at INSERM, Paris. His research focuses on the relationship between autoimmune diseases and atherosclerosis, and the role of the immune system in plaque stability. He also serves on editorial boards of major journals and is a co-founder of the biopharmaceutical company ATEROVAX.
