Prof. Dr. med. Dr. rer. nat. Wolfgang Wagner is director of the Institute of Stem Cell Biology at the RWTH Aachen University Hospital. He studied biology and medicine in Bonn, Norwich (England) and Biel (Switzerland). From 2002 to 2006 he worked as an assistant physician and scientist at the Medical Clinic V in Heidelberg, as well as at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Heidelberg. In 2006 he began working at the Institute of Physiology and Pathophysiology at the University of Heidelberg and received the venia legendi in this subject in 2008. In 2009 he accepted a university professorship at RWTH Aachen. His working group was significantly supported by the Stem Cell Network NRW from 2009 to 2013. In 2021, the teaching and research area “Stem Cell Biology and Cellular Engineering” became an independent institute.
