The University of Zagreb, founded in 1669, is the oldest Croatian university and the largest university in the region of South-East Europe. Consisting of 33 constituent units (29 faculties, 3 art academies and the Centre for Croatian Studies), the University of Zagreb is the flagship University in Croatia. The University offers comprehensive academic degree programmes leading to Bachelor's, Master's and PhD degrees in the following fields: arts, biomedicine, biotechnology, engineering, humanities, natural sciences and social sciences. The University excels in teaching and in research, contributing with over 50 percent to the annual research output in Croatia.
