Professor in Neuroscience and Developmental Biology at the University of Vienna
Ulrich Technau is a distinguished professor in the Department of Neuroscience and Developmental Biology at the University of Vienna, where he also serves as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences. He leads the Research Platform for Single Cell Regulation of Stem Cells and is the Deputy Head of his department. After earning his diploma from the University of Munich in 1992 and a PhD from the University of Frankfurt in 1995 as a Fellow of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Irvine. Technau continued his research career as a Research Associate at the Darmstadt University of Technology, where he also obtained his habilitation in Zoology and Molecular Biology in 2002. From 2004 to 2007, he led a research group at the Sars Centre for Marine Molecular Biology before joining the University of Vienna as a Full Professor of Developmental Biology in 2007.
