Thomas Yates

Professor of Physical Activity, Sedentary Behaviour and Health at University of Leicester.

Professor Tom Yates is the lead physical activity researcher within the Diabetes Research Centre, University of Leicester. He works across a broad portfolio of physical activity research, including the 'Walking Away from Type 2 Diabetes' and 'Let’s Prevent Diabetes' programmes which are now delivered within primary care nationally and internationally. Professor Yates is also a core member of the NIHR Leicester Biomedical Research Centre where ongoing research is investigating how physical activity and reduced sedentary behaviour can be used as a therapy in the prevention and treatment of chronic disease. Professor Yates has published widely, including in the Lancet, and holds several prestigious research grants.
