Independent and apolitical, the RSM also aims to actively encourage and support those who are entering medicine and healthcare.

We are a Royal Charter body registered with the Privy Council, and our official Patron is Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The Royal Society of Medicine acknowledges the pain and suffering that racism has caused and continues to cause and stands in solidarity with those who pursue equity, justice, human dignity for all and an end to racism. In particular, as the current crisis has unfolded, it is clear that the Covid-19 pandemic is widening inequalities, through all the social determinants of health and well-being, which clearly include racism. We will take action to identify and redress inequalities in our organisation and to build a Society in which all are valued equally.
