Siegfried Wagner

Doctor at Institute of Opthalmology at Moorfields

My research focuses on improving our understanding of how the eye changes in systemic diseases, such as dementia and cardiovascular disease. Using retinal imaging with both traditional statistics and modern artificial intelligence techniques, we are evaluating the potential of leveraging retinal structure as a proxy for our general physiology.

I work within the Artificial Intelligence Research Hub of the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre at Moorfields Eye Hospital and UCL Institute of Ophthalmology under the supervision of Pearse Keane. Funding comes through the Medical Research Council with infrastructural support from the National Institute for Health Research. Additional project funding is through Fight for Sight UK, Alzheimer's Research UK and Moorfields Eye Charity.
