Rachel Nuwer

Science journalist and author at Scientific American

Rachel Nuwer is a freelance science journalist whose work appears in esteemed publications such as The New York Times, Scientific American, and Nature. She also serves as an adjunct professor at NYU's Science, Health, and Environmental Reporting Program.

Rachel’s investigative reporting has taken her across the globe. Her debut book, Poached: Inside the Dark World of Wildlife Trafficking (2018), delves into the multibillion-dollar illegal wildlife trade, drawing on her experiences in over a dozen countries. Her second book, I Feel Love: MDMA and the Quest for Connection in a Fractured World (2023), examines the multifaceted story of MDMA, exploring its science, history, politics, and cultural impact.
