His recent activities have been related to the development of cellular therapies. BTC Ljubljana has developed laboratories, equipment, and engaged the personnel for this purpose, starting with small-scale research projects on the stem cell biology, accrediting a Tissue and Cell Establishment, opening a Public Umbilical Cord Blood Bank, opening a high-tech GMP premises for cellular therapies, etc.

He is active in the Education and Training Programs, including performance of audits and monitoring of staff performance. 

Already in the 1990s he envisioned that transfusion medicine would develop from relatively simple "blood banking" into an integral medical discipline, embracing the newest biomedical expertise and development on the molecular and cellular levels. Today, this is a reality – Transfusion Medicine has, beside the biobanking and blood supply, integrated advanced therapies (cellular therapies, gene therapies and tissue engineering), biobanking, personalized medicine, immunogenetics and transplantation, as well as complete supporting laboratory expertise.
