Paul Knoepfler is a stem cell and genomics researcher, science writer and blogger. He is a professor at UC Davis School of Medicine in the Department of Cell Biology & Human Anatomy, The Genome Center, The Cancer Center, and the Stem Cell Program. He is the author of two books: Stem Cells: An Insider’s Guide and more recently, GMO Sapiens: The Life-Changing Science of Designer Babies. He has a strong interest in the complex interface of innovative life science technologies such as stem cells, genomics, and CRISPR with society. In GMO Sapiens he tackles the scientific, ethical, and societal considerations of human gene editing and its potential use to transform what it means to be human.
