Paul Carter

Researcher at Aston’s ACALM unit and academic clinical fellow at Cambridge University.

I am a clinician-scientist undertaking a cardiology academic clinical fellowship at University of Cambridge. I am using epidemiological and laboratory research to investigate the associations of social and medical determinants of health on cardiovascular diseases. My main research interests are in:

1) The inflammatory basis of atherosclerosis and the accelerated atherogenesis seen in inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis.

2) The impact and interactions of psychosocial determinants of health, such as psychiatric disease, ethnicity and marital status, on outcomes of patients with cardiovascular disease.
