OpenBiome

Nonprofit stool bank and microbiome health organization

OpenBiome is a pioneering nonprofit organization that accelerates bold discoveries in microbiome science — ethically and equitably — to improve health for all. As an early pioneer in microbiome science, it laid the foundation for microbiome-based therapies by providing access to investigational fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) and now leveraging to catalyze microbiome research worldwide.

OpenBiome, through its flagship program the Global Microbiome Conservancy, is building a globally representative library of the human microbiome to ensure that all communities have a chance to participate in and benefit from microbiome science. Working in partnership with local scientists, they collect, analyze, and culture human microbiome diversity from underrepresented communities around the world.
