Munir Pirmohamed is a geneticist, David Weatherall Chair of Medicine, and NHS Chair of Pharmacogenetics at the University of Liverpool. Research interests include drug safety, pharmacogenomics, and personalised medicine.
Pirmohamed studied medicine at the University of Liverpool. After completing PhD in pharmacology, he began working as a consultant physician at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. He is a member of the Commission on Human Medicines and Chair of its Pharmacovigilance Expert Advisory Group, in addition to the role of Deputy Director for the MRC Centre for Drug Safety Sciences in Liverpool. Alongside these responsibilities, Pirmohamed also sits on the advisory board for precision medicine company Geneix.
