Mirela Delibegovic

Dean for Industrial Engagement in Research at University of Aberdeen and Director of Aberdeen Cardiovascular and Diabetes Centre

Prof. Mirela Delibegovic (MD) currently holds a Personal Chair at the University of Aberdeen. MD performed her postdoctoral studies at Harvard Medical School, in the laboratories of Prof. Benjamin Neel and Barbara Kahn, whilst her PhD in Biochemistry was obtained from the University of Dundee, MRC protein phosphorylation unit (under supervision of Prof. PTW Cohen). Her lab aims to understand how obesity, ageing and diet lead to metabolic dysfunction and cognitive decline at the physiological and molecular level, how this is altered under pathophysiological conditions, and if this is reversible or preventable either by improvements in brain insulin sensitivity or nutritional interventions, that are feasible in humans.
