After at 15-year career developing signal processing and machine learning algorithms for GPS, Hubble, and Missile defense, I recognized the potential to transform health care with these same types of predictive solutions. I became the Chief Data Scientist at Penn Medicine in 2014, recruited and trained a new team of data scientists, and then started the research and deployment of effective predictive systems that Penn Medicine has become known for today.
