Matt Wood

Assistant Director of Communications at the University of Chicago

Matt Wood is currently the Assistant Director of Communications in the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago, a position he has held since August 2021. Prior to his current position, Matt served as the Associate Director of Communications, Science and Strategy at the University of Chicago from March 2020 to June 2021. In this role, he supported strategic science and engineering initiatives across UChicago research divisions and affiliated national laboratories as part of the Office of the Vice President for National Laboratories, Science Strategy, Innovation, and Global Initiatives. His responsibilities included developing strategic documents, white papers, pitch decks, and coordinating online symposia and lecture series to promote UChicago research and faculty hires in emerging programs. Matt also worked in collaboration with the UChicago News Office and communications staff across the campus to ensure consistent messaging for science and engineering research coverage and institutional priorities.
