Mathieu Giraudeau
Researcher at the University of La Rochelle
Mathieu Giraudeau has been a CNRS researcher at the Littoral Environnement et Sociétés laboratory (LIENSs) since 2021. He specializes in evolutionary biology and is particularly interested in the ecology and evolution of cancer.
His research activities aim to study the impact of oncogenic processes on the ecology and evolution of wild organisms (birds, mammals, bivalves). More specifically, he proposes to (1) determine the prevalence and distribution of tumors in wild populations and the impact of cancer processes on resource allocation trade-offs using longitudinal and experimental approaches, (2) tests whether species life history traits predict tumor prevalences measured in the field using comparative analyzes and (3) measures the impact of human activities on cancer prevalence.
He also develops projects focusing on aging (erosion of telomeres, oxidative stress) and the coloring of wild organisms. He uses a wide variety of biological models such as gulls, hydras or bivalves.
