LSE Future of Humanity Summit

Examines the most fundamental question about the future of humanity – our long term survival

27-Mar-2021

The event surveys different forms of ‘existential risk’ from those that are familiar to the public such as climate change and nuclear weapons to those which emerge out of less familiar places such as artificial intelligence and synthetic biology. In addition, the event provides an overview of strategies that are essential to X-Risk mitigation, which may have profound effects on how we advance as a civilization.

We host four panels in March as part of this Summit:

 - The Near-Far Problem: Surviving Climate Change

 - Rage Against the Machine: The Perils of AI

 - The Purposed Pandemic: The Threats of Synthetic Biology

 - A Fighting Chance: Extinction Prevention Strategies
