Lorenzo Masia

Professor in Intelligent BioRobotic Systems at the Technical University of Munich

Lorenzo Masia is the Professor in Intelligent BioRobotic Systems and Deputy Director of the Munich Institute for Robotics and Machine Intelligence at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). His research focuses on robotics, particularly exosuits and robot-assisted rehabilitation. He is specialized in design of mechatronic devices for rehabilitation and develops control strategies for human-robot interaction. His work also involves mechanism with controllable compliance, addressing challenges in healthcare and human augmentation.

Masia serves as Associate Editor for IEEE Transaction on Robotics (TRO), IEEE RAL Robotics and Automation Letters, IEEE Transaction on Neural Systems and Rehabilitation Engineering, Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation and Wearable Technologies, Cambridge Press. He was an Assistant Professor at the School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) of Singapore, leading the ARIES Lab (Assistive Robotics and Interactive Ergonomic Systems) and then Associate Professor in Biodesign at University of Twente (The Netherlands).

Masia graduated in Mechanical Engineering at “Sapienza” University of Rome and received his PhD in “Mechanical Measurement for Engineering” at the University of Padua.
