Leonard O'Sullivan

Associate Professor of Ergonomics and Human Factors, School of Design and Health Research Institute, University of Limerick.

Leonard O’Sullivan is a an Associate Professor in the School of Design where he leads the Rapid Innovation Unit between the University and the University Hospital Limerick Group. The unit us focused on the use of 3d printing and other technologies to rapidly develop solutions for healthcare. He group has applied this formula to several clinical specialisms to date including, urology, gastroenterology, respiratory medicine, nephrology, assisted reproduction and palliative care, among others.

His research interests are in medical device innovation and user centred design of health technologies, in particular through using 3d printing. He has been involved in two spinout companies from the University to date (one of which has been acquired) , and involved in numerous other medical device commercialization projects.

Prof. O’Sullivan is a Fellow and current Chairman of the Irish Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, a Fellow of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (UK), member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (USA) and member of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (UK).
