Kaare Christensen
Professor of Epidemiology and Head of Research at the University of Southern Denmark
Kaare Christensen, MD, PhD, DMSc, is a Professor of Epidemiology and Head of the Unit of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Biodemography at the University of Southern Denmark. He is the Director of the Danish Aging Research Center and of the Danish Twin Registry. Christensen has been heading large-scale aging studies in Denmark with a focus on life course studies of health and aging. He has authored or co-authored more than 500 articles since 1995 in peer-reviewed, international journals. He has been member of working groups and advisory panels appointed by the US National Research Council and the National Institute on Aging, USA. Christensen is a member of the Novo Nordisk Foundation Committee for Clinical and Translation Medical Science (KTL). Since 2018, he has been a member of The Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters, and since 2020 a member of the Scientific Monitoring Board of the Survey of Health, Ageing and Retirement in Europe (SHARE).
