Ka Kahe
Virgil G. Damon Professor, Columbia University
Dr. Kahe's research is primarily in nutritional and environmental epidemiology, focusing on lifestyle, dietary and environmental factors in relation to the risk of chronic diseases. He has served as the Principal Investigator in a number of NIH funded population studies, including secondary data analysis and studies collecting new data with multidisciplinary approach. Under the umbrella of CARDIA and REGARDS cohort studies, he has led multiple NIH funded projects relating minerals (both nutritious and toxic) to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cognitive decline. As a co-investigator, he has been involved in a few large national and international, epidemiological and clinical studies. In these studies, he has successfully administered and/or collaborated with other researchers from different institutes, and produced high quality peer-reviewed publications.
