John D. Loike

Professor and Monthly Columnist at The Scientist Magazin

Dr. Loike is the Director of Special Programs in the Center for Bioethics at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and research scientist in the Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics. He also serves as Advisory Board member of the Columbia University Center for the Study of Science and Religion, creator and faculty editor of the Columbia University Journal of Bioethics, and course director for Frontiers in Bioethics and Ethics for Biomedical Engineers at Columbia College and Graduate Physiology at the Medical Center. His research focuses on the role of inflammation in cancer, infections, and neurodegenerative diseases.
